Clothes affect the environment, in particular climate and water, throughout their life cycle. This programme will provide the Swedish fashion industry with the tools it needs to become competitive by turning sustainability into a commercial advantage. Research covers everything from policy instruments and strategies for systemic change to new design tools, textile fibres with less impact on the environment, and new ideas on textiles recycling.
The International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) joined the programme as a new research partner in the area of policy issues.
In June, another four industry partners were announced. The programme now has a total of 32 partners.
In November, the programme hosted the unique ‘Circular Transitions’ conference in London, on the theme of design for a circular economy.
