Mistra’s Executive Director in major studies of sustainable competitiveness

Åke Iverfeldt was a member of the Swedish Government’s futures group on ‘The Green Transition and Competitiveness’. One of the recommendations in its final report was to set up a state-owned green investment bank.

‘The work of this group proved an extremely creative intellectual process, in which ideas were thrashed out in a very exciting way. We represented no one but ourselves and our collective experience, and the group increasingly assumed the character of a think tank, with a clear systems approach.’

Iverfeldt also served on the steering group of the Resource-Efficient Business Models project, run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. The recent final report of this project on a circular economy, which was part-funded by Mistra, highlights the importance of working across sector boundaries to ensure efficient use of resources.
